Back from Bonaire … again!

We’re back from our 2nd trip to Bonaire in less than 6 months. We had a great time and did a lot more research on living there. When we embarked on this journey to pursue a simpler life – one with more free time doing what we love, Bonaire wasn’t on our list of possibilities. Why? It’s a great question! And one I don’t have an answer to especially since we spent a week there in 2011. But the 2011 us and the 2018 us are pretty different. I could write a whole post on that … maybe I will.

The 2017 hurricane season absolutely sucked … I won’t rehash it here but we have it to thank for reuniting us with Bonaire. We’d originally planned to go to St. Croix in September… we moved our trip to October because of Irma and by then Maria had slammed them so we went to Bonaire – blissfully situated on the edge of the hurricane belt.

And we fell in love with it.

The only decision left to make now is when. We moved to the Keys knowing we wanted to leave the country fairly soon but what we didn’t know was where we wanted to go. We’ve been to a lot of places over the last few years trying to find our spot but no where clicked until Bonaire. In the meantime, we’ve built a great life for ourselves in the Keys, a place we never intended to stay. We have one month left on our lease here before it converts to month to month so we don’t have to rush into any decisions. And like I always say: if a place is hard to leave you’re doing something right!

I also want to send a huge shout-out to Liz from The Adventures of Island Girl! If you don’t follow her blog, you should! It’s full of sassy island life perspective that will keep you coming back for more! We can’t thank you & your husband enough for taking the time to meet us for drinks and telling us all about life on the rock! Drinks are on us next time!

Here are some the highlights from our week on Bonaire – enjoy!
