The Saddest App Screen
We love the travel app TripIt. It’s great for keeping all of your travel plans organized in one place and it has a lot of great features. One of my favorite features is the trip countdown. I love having a trip to look forward to and open the app often to see how many days away it is and to daydream a little.
That’s all just great until there are no trips to look at! I opened it today only to be greeted by what is quite possibly the saddest app screen. Of course this was expected since we don’t have any trips planned but it still hurt.
We usually save up for two trips each year, one over Thanksgiving (two free days off from work? yes please!) and another in late February when the winter has worn down our will to live and we’re not sure if we’ll make it to spring. The late February trip is the perfect boost to get through the rest of winter. This year we decided to rent a place in Key Largo for the winter in lieu of our usual trips. This sounded great, a perfectly logical swap, but there’s one major thing we didn’t factor into the plan and that’s our severe case of wanderlust!
We love to travel and haven’t been on an adventure since we went to Utila in late May. We’re both getting antsy and feeling the familiar call to explore somewhere new. We did take a quick trip down to Key Largo over Labor Day but that was different since we were scoping it out as a place to live. We did manage to fit in a good amount of fun, diving and sunsets – more on that in another post coming soon (I’m way overdue on that one!). There’s also something about staying in the States that doesn’t reset our urge to travel like a trip outside the country does.
In the meantime, we need to solve our craving for travel & adventure. If work approves our days off we’ll be taking a Thanksgiving trip which is only 6 weeks away! We have a really fun trip planned to a location we’ve had our eye on for a while. A destination that has great potential to be the place we’ll start out when we go where it’s warm. I can’t wait to see the TripIt screen countdown! Fingers crossed that we can go!
In other news, fall is in the air here sadly. It’s about 65 and cloudy here today, definitely not beach weather. Yesterday was nice though and we took advantage of it as much as we could considering it was a work day.
Warm thoughts to all!
