Bonaire Coral Spawning

We’ve been monitoring grooved brain coral for spawning activity the past month as volunteers with Reef Renewal Bonaire. If you’re not familiar with them, check them out, they’re doing some amazing work here on Bonaire restoring our reefs!

So what does monitoring entail?

Honestly, a lot of chilling underwater in a single spot. About 85 minutes per night all in the hopes of witnessing a few magical minutes. And magical it was! On the fourth night our corals finally spawned! 25 colonies in 25 minutes, it was incredible! Good luck future corals!
