Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from Key Largo everyone!

This is our second Thanksgiving down here. Last year I was sad and homesick and we spent the day alone. We knew people but we hadn’t quite found our circle yet. I forgot how hard it is to start over somewhere new. It’s even harder when you work from home full-time. I’ve only started over once before in 2005 when I moved from New England to the mid-Atlantic. I loved it there by the time we left and it’s where I think of as home now, not New England, but the first year there was extremely hard on me too.

This year we’re having Friendsgiving with our island family.  We have a huge group gathering and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and spending the holiday together. I’m bringing Cacio e Pepe. If you’re never had it you should make it. It’s perfectly indulgent and I love how dense it becomes once it cools and slices perfectly.

I have a ton to be thankful for too. Life is good right now and I’m not taking a single minute for granted.

Post sunset last night at Bayside Grille. The glowing sliver of moon was so pretty.

And that gets me thinking about next year. We don’t know where we’ll be next year – we might be here or we might be in Bonaire which is our top pick as of now (a lot more on that soon!). When we leave here, we’ll be starting over once again. I’m ready for it, looking forward to it even. We’ll make friends faster there since we’ll be working in diving versus sitting inside our house all day. One thing’s for sure, when we leave here I’ll be homesick for my favorite things in the Keys. That’s a good thing though – it means we spent time in the right place.

Happy Thanksgiving!
