Coral Death in Key Largo

It’s easy to miss a problem that you can’t see but thanks to the film Chasing Coral everyone can see first hand what’s happening in our oceans and it’s sad, scary & time sensitive. It’s also not too late. If you haven’t seen the film yet, what are you waiting for? It’s a global crisis that needs our attention right now. If we all work together we can reverse and correct this alarming trend.

Today I want to share with you a heart-breaking example of coral death right here in my backyard in Key Largo, FL.

Without coral reefs a healthy ocean is not possible and without a healthy ocean the health of the planet as a whole will be next.

Two years ago when we first started diving here this huge brain coral was still partially alive. It was one of the highlights of a popular dive sight called Snappers Ledge. It’s completely dead now. We were out there two weeks ago and I was heartbroken by the condition of it. As sad as it was to film it, everyone needs to see this.

Tell everyone who will listen, share on your social media and reduce your footprint any way you can. This is a state of emergency for our corals and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Without coral reefs a healthy ocean is not possible and without a healthy ocean the health of the planet as a whole will be next.
